It is with fond memories that I share the passing of my beloved Pappy. He was an incredible man who touched the lives of so many people. He loved his family dearly and gave my Nanny and our family so much through his dedication and love. A hardworking businessman, he also gave generously to his community and friends.
Our many dances together, skidoo rides, drives in his truck, countless memories at the cottage, and breakfasts after Sunday mass will always be treasured. The toast always tasted better when he buttered it. He loved telling the story about how he met Nanny in grade school, a tale I will cherish forever.
My sweet Pappy, thank you for the memories and the love. Save the last dance for me.
May you rest in peace.

My grandfather was a great Pappy and an even greater Father to my mother. We visited with him often at Manoir Sacré-Cœur where everyone in our household got to experience ‘The Long Goodbye’ (re: dementia), and where he was treated with such excellent care. To think that my sister, Chanel, and I travelled past there for five consecutive years going to High School on the bus completely oblivious to what went on behind those walls. Fast forward to today we certainly know now what a wonderful and caring place Manoir Sacré-Coeur is. Love you, Pappy, and until we meet again.

Remembering my dear Grandfather, Pappy, who will always be cherished. It’s hard to put into words how much he meant to me and others. His memories, the chances he gave us, and his influence are vast.
As a kid, nothing was more exciting than visiting him and seeing what new project he was up to. I was always amazed and motivated by his ability to face any problem, with each project leading to something even bigger. We might not have always known what his projects were for, but they sure sparked our imagination.
His many stories of flying adventures and wilderness journeys have always inspired me. He lived a life without limits, full of potential and adventure, that could inspire anyone.
He left behind a legacy of happiness, comfort, and peace for his grandchildren and, joyfully, his great-grandchildren too.
Goodbye, Pappy. Your life was incredible, and its influence will last forever.

As a kid growing up, I have countless memories of him, I remember going to his place in the winter time on the weekends and he would have a room for me and my brother and a separate room for my parents and we would stay there with him and nanny all weekend, we would ride skidoos, play on the ice or me and my brother would ride with him in his snow plow truck and he would always buy me a box of smarties! I remember in the summer I would ride with him on his bull dozer or his tractor thing as he would do gravel work, I was always stuck to his hip, whether it was doing wood work or whatever else he was up to! He was a great man that taught me a lot growing up, he used to make jokes to me when he would teach me to ride his 4 wheeler to go easy on the bumps so that my woman's boobs wouldn't bounce to much, that was his sense of humor! He was very meticulous in his teachings as to always cut very low to the branch to not pop a tire and to this day i still remember this, also to always cut the branch on an angle with the snippers so you don't bend the blades! My favorite part of the day was when he would say take the bike down to the main road and go get a bird, when I would arrive back with a bird, the smile he had on his face was a memory i will not forget! He was a loving, caring grandpa who loved to have fun and also loved to work, I can't remember a day where he wasn't working on something, and when he wasn't working, he was watching his westerns and eating jube jubes!! Rest easy, you enjoyed a great life and now you get to be reunited with your parents, siblings and Kent. I will always love you and miss you, thanks for everything.

My sweet Pappy
My first real memory I have of you is when I was 5 years old and we just moved into our new home. New town, new friends, new school…. After the moving truck was all unloaded and boxes were piled up everywhere in the new house, you grabbed 2 dining room table chairs, put them down in the living room and asked me to sit with you while we enjoyed a slice of pizza together. Growing up, I always remember you being there, one of many perks of having your grandparents a 10 minute drive away! I remember you helping out our family countless times : coming to rescue our broken down car on your flatbed and fixing’er right up for our family. You and Dad splitting wood together on summer days to keep us warm in the winter.
Another fond memory of you growing up would have to be * The Nanny and Pappy Breakfast after Sunday church*. You would always put on the best cartoons for us kids and nothing could ever beat your homemade Pappy Toast (come on Ted, I know you can handle just one more slice). The food was always the best, but what really sticks with me to this day was it became a tradition, almost every sunday, our family with Nanny and Pappy.
You and Nanny gave us Davidson beach, a beautiful and cool place where we would spend our entire summers. A place where friends and family still reunite to this day, where countless memories have been made ( *trailer trash* days haha), bonfires, adventures, laughs, wow so many laughs). A place where I now get to share with my kids .. FOURTH Generation. Seriously, how lucky are we!!
The way my Pappy looked at my Nanny and still twirled her around on the dance floor at 80 years old is some of the most purest love that you will ever find, that I promise you.
A love that has made the most amazing and closest family you could ever ask for. We all know that we have so much to be grateful for!
Faith, love, the value of hard work and all while having so much fun along the way are just a few things that you have taught us.
Je t’aime Pappy! Merci pour tout tout ce que tu nous as donné! Je serai toujours reconnaissante.
Maintenant c’est le temps de te reposer et de danser à nouveau!

I've been struggling with the loss of my grandfather, because he was always so strong, his will, personality and in body. He taught me so much, the value of hard work, helping your community, the deapth of love one could feel and the value of family. He created spaces and provided activities that, when I was younger, thought were normal. In retrospect we we're spoiled rotten. He had 5 kids and later on well over a dozen grand children.
The camps in the woods, big enough to house his family and friends, and then the next generation and now even the next. A place to ride the fourwheelers he bought and took care of. Fourwheelers that were purchased in the 80's and still run to this day. He had pride in ownership and made sure to maintain what he owned. In the fall, it was a place for us to gather for hunting season. I often rode with my grandfather, the cassette of the rosary blaring away, I think i still remember some of the songs. It always kicked off with Thanksgiving, and we would go up as an entire family and cook, dance, have bon fires and work. There was always work to be done, be it falling, cutting, splitting and moving wood (the amount of wood I've moved is unreal and still one of my least favourite chores), getting water to wash dishes or clearing trails for fourwheelers and skidoos (everyone took a pair of snips, there were no exceptions). Skidoo's that he generously let anyone use...with a few ground rules. Ski-doos I love and cherish today. Now i say this like i was all in the past however we still spend our days at the camp as a family, doing very much the same activities.
The cottages in Davidson. One that was once his home is now the place I call home. A beautiful beach and a cottage for the family. We spent our entire summer playing on that beach. When we outgrew the cottage he bought us a camper for the cousins. I can still hear him hollering at us to get up for church after we stayed up way to late. We went to a little church in town where we took up most of the pews. He would prompt the clergy with an "ensamble" when we were meant to recite a prayer. Afterwards we would all come back to his house, or our cottage and him and my grandmother would cook up a huge breakfast. He was so proud of his toast, and he had every right to be, it was fantastic. They'd feed us until we were full to bursting and then give us a quarter to go to the "snack shack" with to purchase penny candy. If you were sly enough you may have even gotten a werthers original.
I'm forever grateful for this man, and everything he provided us. His generosity and love ran deeper than the ocean. I sit her on his porch...my porch? as I write this and reminice on all he had to offer. He left a true legacy in his wake, though i guess we all dropped the ball on getting our pilots licenses haha. It's hard to put pen to paper but now I've started I could probably write a novel. He was a beautiful man and the hole he will leave will be great. My heart is heavy but only because it's so full.
Love you Pappy, you can rest now. Say Hi to Kent for me.

Jimmy treated us like we were his kids; from lending us an Elan for snowmobiling, to lending us a truck to go to Balsam lake to join the others, to taking us on numerous airplane rides and of course allowing us to spend time at his cottage till the wee hours of the morning. I will always remember Jimmy ( we called him Mr Ward) as a very patient and generous man, who created so many wonderful memories for my friends and I. Rest in peace Jimmy. I have many fond memories of time spent with Jimmy and the Ward family. For many years we hung out in the Ward basement which provided a group of us with a comfortable and safe place to play games and listen to music.
The snowmobiling to Cahill lake will always remain a cherished memory: leave Fort Coulonge by 3:30, ride to the Black River Inn- warm up, have a drink and then ride the remaining distance to Cahill. Arrive after 10:00 pm. to a freezing camp, make a fire, unload, chat amongst the 10 or so folk snuggled in our beds and off to sleep.
The many repairs Jimmy made to snowmobiles in the freezing cold will always be a reminder that it is “ Never too Cold!”
Jimmy will be sadly missed by many but the Best of Times will never be forgotten.
And Yes, his soft shoe dancing and singing his version to
“ Did You Happen to See The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” will be another reminder of “ a life well lived!”
Cheers to Jimmy with a glass of the Balsam Gum!!
