Nécrologie de Brian Booth
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Desmond Booth, on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the age of 77. Brian is survived by Charlene Booth, his two children Jennifer (Garth Marenick) and Patrick (Lisa Morelli), his sister Barbara Booth and nephews Stephen, Andrew, and Kevin, as well as all his many cherished friends. Predeceased by his parents Gladys and Desmond, and brother Robert.
Brian was born and spent most of his life in Ottawa. He was an accountant by trade, working for 35 years with the Federal Government. He spent the later years of his civil servant career working in Toronto and living in Mississauga, never ceasing his care of his personal tax clients at the same time. He took pride in the fact that both his children followed in his vocational footsteps.
Although Brian never actually stopped working, sending emails right up until his final days, he spent most of his retirement time in his beloved Norway Bay, Quebec. Through Brian’s extensive time acting as Treasurer for the Norway Bay Municipal Association, he became a pillar of the Norway Bay community and will be remembered fondly.
He loved to plan and host his wonderful friends for dinner parties, entertaining them with his personally curated playlists, and endless food and drink. Friends will cherish memories of his fondue and various theme parties. A true foodie till the end, he was always up for a glass of “high-end” red with friends, a good pizza, or even a “smash” of Chinese from local Kojak’s.
Brian was a music and movie enthusiast who loved building up his collections, and continuously testing himself with names of song titles and artists. He was especially fond of Elvis Presley and old western and war movies. He loved going back to visit the Toronto area to spend time with his sister Barbara and catch the most recent theater productions.
Friends and family will miss Brian’s kindness, thoughtfulness, his dry sense of humour and his hearty “C’mon In!” greeting whenever you arrived at his door.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a celebration of life on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 12 to 3 pm at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec.
