It is with heavy hearts the family of Rita O’Brien announces her passing on January 12, 2017 at the age of 92 at Marianhill, Pembroke, Ontario. Rita will be remembered by many former students. She taught in Arvida, Pembroke and Chapeau. Playing the organ at the Mission Church in Desjardinville was very important and enjoyable for her. Rita is survived by her sister, Teresa McCallum (late Gordon). She was a cherished Aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Stella Picard and Jas H. O’Brien. Predeceased by sisters Virtue Venne (late Cecil), Ivy Smith (late Ralph), brothers Earl, Nelson, Ray, Justin (Margaret Moriarty) and Joseph, sisters Stella Danis (late Narcissus), and Joy Claire Miron (late Lloyd). Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 56 St. Jacques Street, Chapeau, Quebec on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Alphonsus Church, Chapeau, Quebec on Tuesday, January 17 at 11 a.m. Interment Parish Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff of Marianhill for their excellent care and compassion for Rita over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Alphonsus Church Renovation Fund would be appreciated by the family.
