Nécrologie de Dorene Schock
At the age of 95 years, Dorene passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in Long Term Care, Shawville, Quebec. She has joined her beloved husband, the late Harold Schock of Ladysmith, Quebec, who passed away 19 years earlier. Together, on their farm in Ladysmith, Harold and Dorene raised 6 children who in turn gave them 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dorene was fortunate to know and love each and every one of them, and was especially proud to become a great-grandmother. She was the smart, funny, loving, independent matriarch of a large family who loves and misses her dearly.
She is the cherished ‘Mom’ of David (Joyce Hammond), Cheryl (Paul Tregunna), Janis (Ed Pulley), Kevin (Debra Finnegan), Laurel (Robert Grant) and Mark (Deborah Madore). She is the loving ‘Gramma’ of Sheri-Lyn, Steven (Lindsay Sheppard), Kimberly, Jo-Anne (Daniel Perfitt), Shawn, David (Jennifer Martin), Leigha (Timothy Covell), Jeremy, Alexander, Andrea, Brendan and Conor. And she is the proud great-grandmother ‘Gramma Dorene’ of Andrew, Kyla, Oakley, Adam, Owen, Sarah, Cameron, Christopher, Benjamin, Dawson and Tristan. Dorene is survived by her sister June (Robert Moffat) of Nanaimo, BC and is predeceased by sisters Betty (Harry Davis) and Gwenneth, and parents Alfred Wilcox and Lula McDowell.
Dorene made sure she made a difference, and not just to her family. She was a long-time contributor to the community, from the TCRA to the hospital auxiliary and many other events and organizations in between. She will be greatly missed by friends and extended family members.
Donations to St. George’s Anglican Church Thorne Centre, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
