Nécrologie de Anne Meilleur

Anne Meilleur passed away suddenly in her home in Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday June 23^rd 2024 at the age of 78. Anne was the eldest daughter of the late Alfred “Fred” Meilleur and the late Helen (nee Hearty) Meilleur. Anne was predeceased by her partner in life, Beth Knox, her sister Judy (Marty Sullivan) and her brother Rollie (Cathy Simon-Meilleur), her nephew Marc Meilleur as well as her sister-in-law Bev Law. She is survived by her brother Peter (Pauline McDonald) and her sisters Kathryn (David Simpkins) and Debra (Cameron Douglas). She was the loving niece of Sister Marie Meilleur csj and cousin to the Gavan's of Quyon, Quebec and the Hearty's of Espanola, Ontario. Anne was a loving aunt and was close to all her numerous nieces and nephews.

Anne was well known throughout the Ottawa Valley as she cooked for many years at Fred’s Hotel in Chapeau Quebec. She will be remembered for her loud and joyous laugh, her generous spirit and literally thousands of delicious home cooked meals served throughout the years and especially for her famous butterscotch pies. She also played a big and passionate role not only in the building of, but also the ongoing status of the Residence Meilleur du Haut Pontiac in Chapeau which was named in honour of her family’s many contributions to the life of that community.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday August 16^th in St. Alphonsus Church, Chapeau at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the Harrington Hall Community Center. Anne will be buried in the Old Parish Cemetery alongside her parents and siblings.
