Nécrologie de Kay Smith (nee Scully)

October 7, 1924 - November 30, 2023

After a long, happy and healthy life of 99 years, Kathleen “Kay” Smith (nee Scully) of Shawville, Quebec, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 30, 2023. She was born in Otter Lake, QC.

Loving wife of the late Melvin Smith for over 46 years. Loving mother of Myrna Palmer (Gordon Palmer) of Shawville and Darwin Smith of Prescott, Ontario (Susan Morgan) of Gananoque, Ontario. Kay “Grandma Smith” will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Kelsey Smith (Craig Hodgson) of Iroquois, Ontario and Hayley Alexander (Ryan Alexander) of Osgoode, Ontario. Kay “Granny Smith” will always be cherished by her great-grandchildren, Carter, Hunter, Blakeley and Ellianna.

She was predeceased by her sisters Georgina Wilson (Sam), Verna Tomlinson (Henry), Sadie Plouffe (Hector), brother Clarence Scully (Amanda) and her sister-in-law Aileen Smith (Steven). She is survived by many nieces & nephews.

Kathleen will be remembered for her unrequited love for her family, dedication to her church and community and her love of worrying. She enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, playing the organ and playing euchre and dominos.

Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 12 to 1:45 p.m.  Funeral service to follow in Shawville United Church at 2 p.m.  Interment Maple Grove Cemetery.
