Nécrologie de Roberta Hobbs (nee Rooney)

Our dearest mom, Roberta Rooney-Hobbs passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 22, 2023.  Our family’s profound loss is our mom’s greatest gain as she made her way to her heavenly home.

Roberta was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Beulah Rooney and the loving wife of the late Milburn Hobbs.  She was the proud mother of Laurie (Patricia White), Bentley (Debbie Workman) and Glenda (Scott Russett).

She was the loving grandma of Amy (Sean Haddad), Anthony (Meagan Derouin), Erica (Mark Brisebois), Cory, Andrea (Curtis Young), Kyle Buxton (Dana Goodfellow), Jarvis, Janessa (Marc Thurler) and Janelle.  Proud great grandma to Oliver and Clay Hobbs, Blaire, Letty, and Harper Brisebois, Quinn and Kendall Young, Houston Buxton and Billy Thurler.  

Roberta’s passion was sharing her faith in both word and deed even in her final days in hospital.  Her loving nature was demonstrated through meals, generous hospitality, care and concern for others’ needs, and most importantly, in her concern for everyone’s spiritual welfare. Her greatest joy was having every seat filled at her table especially at holiday time. Her wonderful sense of humour allowed her to laugh and enjoy her family’s many antics. Her final wishes for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, which she openly shared with them in her final hours, was that they would be there to fill her table in heaven.

 Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Wednesday, September 27 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral will be held at Shawville Pentecostal Church on Thursday, September 28 at 3 p.m. Interment Shawville Pentecostal Cemetery.  Donations may be made to Shawville Pentecostal Church or Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation.  In lieu of a reception following the service, the family would be overjoyed to greet friends and family at the church between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. before the funeral to enjoy a few moments of memory sharing.
