Nécrologie de Joan Sallafranque (Conroy)
With broken hearts, but wonderful memories, we announce the passing of Mary Edna Joan on Monday, September 11, 2023, with loving family by her side, at the age of 87 years.
Joan was born in Chichester Quebec to Martin Conroy and Edna Mae St Martin. She married Henry Sallafranque in 1954 and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on September 7th. She is survived by her children Brian (Lynn) of Pembroke, Brenda Labre (Gerry) of Chichester, Susie Prankie (David) of Douglas Manitoba, Rosanne of Ottawa, and Pam Krieger (Peter) of Pembroke. Joan is also survived by three siblings; Francis Conroy, Marilyn Conroy and Norma Duggan (John). Joan came from a family of nine and has now joined Gordon, Kenneth, Bernice, Bernard, and Michael in heaven. She is survived by many in-laws: Anthime (Teresita), Bernadette Raymond, Paul (Marie), Adeline Lovesey, Françoise Sallafranque, Pascal and Pauline Belland (Delacey). There are too many nieces, nephews and friends to mention; all loved and cherished with each visit and call.
Joan’s greatest legacy is her family. She and Henry have 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Joan and Henry also provided loving care to five children who they regard as family members. She loved nothing more than a gathering of family and friends and always said; ”we can add another potato to the pot.” Another legacy is her charitable work as an active member on several local committees. These included the Catholic Women’s League, The Recreation Association of Chapeau, The Young at Heart, The Lion’s Club, Harrington Hall Committee, as well as a Eucharistic Minister. The family wish to thank the staff of the Shawville hospital for the special care given during this difficult time.
