It is with deep sympathy to the family of Roger Fleury that I have just heard of the passing of this wonderful Activist who lived his life deeply involved in standing up for truth to be heard by those in power.
Three of my fondest memories of Roger what to this day give me a chuckle as a recent widow I am not Spring Chicken myself so Roger and I were of similar age and as Elders we do have funny stories that help to heal our hearts.
1. We both loved to talk and where passionate about service to a cause bigger than ourselves well imagine as two Elders in his car coming home from events both of us talking and on top of that more distractions where Roger would drive and talk to someone calling him on his intercom system as he drove of course not using his cell phone!
He was a busy man! When running for Federal Election he accidentally parked almost in front of my house accidentally to go out to knock on doors imagine my surprise we talked connected and later on he called me on his cell phone. He was lost and needed me to come to find him to drive him to his car parked in front of my house.
A. I live in Gatineau on a good day with no traffic coming from an event as we left the area leading to the Mackenzie King Parkway Roger took a quick left hand turn and all of a sudden we were driving on the area set out for the famous Ottawa Bus transit service all the way underground where we were finally able to find an exit just passed the Exit of close to the bridge leading us back to Quebec across the bridge past Island Park Drive!
I have been chuckling about that event ever since and the time we got lost in a neighbor hood ten minutes from my house. as Roger drove and talked to another passionate very alive human being he was truly an example of hard work and dedication to the cause of justice he deeply believed in..

Your presence will live on in many lives despite all the controversy you were a very good man and stood up for what you believed in the world this world we all share. Needs more Evolutionary Spiritual Sacred Activism taking place in all Sacred Areas of this beautiful Earth.
Your legacy leaves a true hope in my heart that many more will rise up to live from the best and goodness in all of our hearts. And run for office or simply choose to live active and simple lives of equality and balance. Using just enough and listening to each other in conversations around Sacred Fires like at Victoria Petrie Island. Where I was so blessed to learn so much in Sacred Sharing Circles.
I am eternally grateful to all Anishinabe Algonquin People who have blessed me on the Red path of life. See project Outaouais Wellness Learning and let us be kind to each other in memory of all teachers such as Roger.
I will light a candle to go with this tribute today as I surround your family with my deepest sympathy in their loss.

Cher Roger, tu as été un modèle pour moi, tu as vraiment influencé positivement mon adolescence. Je garde un souvenir impérissable de ma rencontre avec toi. Tu m'as ouvert l'esprit, tu m'as donné le goût de sortir de ma zone de confort et surtout de rêver plus grand tout en développant mon "entrepreneurship". 1000 Mercis d'avoir accepter mon invitation en mai 2019 chez Steve Osborn, j'ai eu la chance de te revoir après 35 ans et tu étais toujour le même...Oeil vif, humour taquin aussi percutant que pertinent empreint d'une profonde gentillesse. Mes plus sincères condoléances à la famille. Que le Grand Manitou ait ton âme et je suis convaincu que nous serons réunit de l'autre côté de la montagne.

Toutes mes sympathies à sa famille et ses amis. Roger m'a enseigné dans la première moitié du secondaire (1999-2001 environ). Il était passionné, il était à sa place. J'ai adoré mon cours avec lui.

Bon courage et nos sincères sympathies à l’entourage de Roger, en particulier à ses fils Denis-Claude et Mark qui étaient très présents pour lui! Roger était un homme authentique, engagé et chaleureux. Il restera à jamais dans nos coeurs.

I knew roger and his family for a long time I knew his son Marc in high school and we were really good friends after highschool roger was a great man awesome sense of humour and a caring guy and will be truly missed my thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this time loss
