In his 87th year, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving husband of Françoise Lair (Married 59 yrs.). Dear Father of Mariette (Wayne), Jean-Paul (Lisa), Stephen and Denis (Sarah). Loving Papa of Joey, Daniel (Jessica), Bradley and Aimee (James), Anna and Katie, Isabelle and Kiera, Nathan and Abigail. Predeceased by grandson Matthew. Great Grandfather to Julia, Avery and Patrick and Aubree.
Son of the late Etienne and Josephine (Lafrance). Dear brother of Henry (Joan), Anthime (Teresita), Bernadette (Arthur), Paul (Marie), Adeline, Pascal, Pauline (Delacey). Predeceased by Jeanne, Cecile, Joseph, Albert, Lucien, Mary, Josephine, and Madeleine. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
He will be fondly remembered for being a superintendent for Markus and Son and his community involvement with the Chapeau Agricultural Society, The Young at Heart Club, Allumette Island West Fire Department, Upper Pontiac Sport Complex, Chip FM, Knights of Columbus, Water Ways, Harrington Community Center, St Alphonsus Church, Diocese of Pembroke, and many years served as counsellor and Mayor of Allumette Island West. He served 25 years on the board of directors for Caisse Populaire for which he received a merit for his community involvement. He was recognised by Pope Francis for his involvement with the church, diocese and community for which he received the medal Bene Merenti.
A private family gathering will be held at the Hayes Funeral Home, Chapeau, Quebec on Friday, February 12th, 2021. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Alphonsus Church Chapeau, Quebec in the intimacy of the immediate family only. Funeral Mass will be live streamed on Fr. Tim Moyle's Facebook page at 11 a.m. Interment St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Chapeau, Quebec.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Association or the St. Alphonsus Parish would be appreciated. The Family wishes to thank the CLSC, Golden Peak and his special caregiver.
