Jo-Ann was a firecracker of a woman with a tremendous heart and sense of humour. I worked with her as a teacher and considered her a friend. She was brave and independent and I benefited from her compassion many times throughout the years. Petawawa has lost a true legend. So sorry to all of Jo-Ann's family and friends for the loss of such a fantastic lady.

I am saddened to learn of Jo'-Ann's passing. Joanne was my teacher during the early elementary school years - I recall her as being a very kind and caring teacher and one of my favorites. I had the opportunity to know her over many years during my adulthood and to say she was spirited is an apt modifier. Joanne was always ready for entertaining friends and socializing; she was a character and enjoyed people. She was never one to shy away from her honest opinion but most of all she cared about everything she did and always said what she meant, meant what she said and did what she said she would do. May you be comforted by your many memories in the days and weeks to come. Rest in peace, Jo-Ann

Rick, Starr, Amanda and families. My sincere condolences on Jo-Ann's passing. The world lost quite a character. While I hadn't seen her for many years now I have lots of memories growing and visiting the house on Elmber, the advise she shared with all us kids, and the fun we all had.

So sorry to hear of Jo-Ann's passing, great memories of our high school days at St. Alphonse's. Many sleep overs at the McCrea home. Jo-Ann was my maid of honer. Sadly we lost touch over the years. She had been on my mind recently!!.

I went to school with Joanne and John. Joanne was three years older than me while John was my age. I have fond memories of my brother Dan (Danny) and I staying overnight at your place. We didn’t get to visit people or have sleep-overs very often back then so each event created a treasured memory. We kids got along well and your parents were so kind to us. I attended the Ridge school with Jo-Ann. She was 5 years older than me but always nice to me. We had a Christmas gift exchange and I was lucky enough to have Jo-Ann pull my name. As the first of a long line of Tom McCrea’s grandchildren, Jo-ann was a hard act to follow. We spent part of our vacation each year at a rental cottage on the “river”. Jo-Ann was several years older than I and I was always in awe of her beauty and glamour. As we got older, she was always so caring and welcoming and Fun. She lived life to the fullest, with fierce independence and a huge heart. My deepest sympathy to her children and grandchildren and John and Marie. Rest in peace my dear cousin. Jo-Ann was a very caring and down to earth person, everyone will have great memories of her no matter what their connection. Two Girls and a Counter..that’s what we called ourselves..!!
From making our JRJ Valley RedNeck Maple Syrup (which she introduced me to making) to cooking for just the two of us, family gatherings, or family/friends events, we worked well in my kitchen..!
She loved my island, she could sit at the end peel, chop, and prep. She would tell me what she needed and away she’d go.. first let’s pour a drink she’d say.. lol. One day she said..” we should start a little business, call it “Two Girls and a Counter”. We laughed like 2 school girls..!! We looked forward to our shopping and cooking adventures knowing we where making someone happy..(even if it only for ourselves..)
I will forever treasure these memories..
I love you Jo...!!
