Peacefully in hospital, Shawville, Quebec with his daughter Karen, son-in-law Doug and his special nurse Karen Bean (Doug’s sister) by his side on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in his 93rd year. Nelson and Ruth were joined together once again on their special day- their wedding anniversary. He is survived by children Barry and his wife Janice, Karen Bean and her husband Doug, grandchildren Jeff Bean and his wife Deb Riordon-Bean, Shari-Lynn McNulty and her husband Dwayne, great grandchildren Thomas and Alexandra Bean and Evan and Charlotte McNulty, sisters-in-law Catherine Brock of Richmond, Quebec, Mildred Robinson of Inverness, Quebec, Irma Stanley of Shawville and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Gertrude Mastine and William Brock, brother Spencer and sister Mildred Goodfellow, brothers-in-law John (late Jean), Reggie Stanley, Archie Stanley Bernard Robinson and Lucille (late Frank Burns). Nelson was a well known farmer and councilor in the farming community of St. Felix de Kingsey. He entertained with his fiddle, guitar and keyboarding and up until the first part of May he still entertained with his fiddle the residents of the Wilson Home in Campbell’s Bay, Quebec. Nelson and Ruth moved to Stittsville in 1984 and enjoyed a long retirement in many community activities. He also left us with many legacies of his excellent woodworking projects. A Memorial Service celebrating Nelson’s life will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1619 Main Street, Stittsville, Ontario. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.Donations to the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation can be made in Nelson’s memory.
