Shawville Councillor & 27 year Member of Shawville Clarendon Fire Dept Unexpectedly in hospital, Hull, Quebec, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the age of 66 years. Beloved husband for 42 years of Rita. Loving father and best friend of James (Randi), Scott & Christopher (Melanie). Cherished Pake of Eden, Lexa, Addi and Jacob. Dear brother of Wes (Margaret), Garry (Cathy), Betty (Henry Schuler), Jim (Val), Henrietta & Ray (Sandra). He will be missed by brothers-in-law, Bill (Wendi), Rick (Connie), and sister-in-law Dorothy (Bill Olynyk), mother-in-law Dora (late Jake) and many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by parents William & Feijke. John was a valued member of the community having served 3 terms as Shawville Councillor and 27 years as a volunteer firefighter with Shawville Clarendon Fire Department, earning a Governor General Exemplary Service Award Plus Bar. Hayes & Sons Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Visitation in the Christian Reformed Church, 431 Albert St., Renfrew, Ontario on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Service at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
