Last journal entry, June 13th
I mastered a 4-star Sudoku then practiced my favorite bluegrass gospel music on my banjo with my band, Thursday Morning. Sue made my favorite tuna and Cheeze Whiz sandwich for lunch and we both had a quick afternoon nap. I headed down to the cottage to do some tidying up in the yard. While on my tractor, my heart suddenly gave out.
My only regret is not having more time with my wife Susan, my children: Heather, Jennifer, Steven, and Christopher, my sister Lenore, and my godson Mark. Susan was more than just my wife: she was also my best friend, my confidant, my companion, and the only thing that kept me in line throughout our 40 years together. Our four children gave me the love and challenges that make life worth living each in his or her own way.
My family is following my wishes that I not have a wake or funeral. Instead, put on your comfy clothes and come to Bristol Landing on Friday, June 21st at 2pm to celebrate my life. At 3:30, my family will share memories. Instead of flowers or donations, I would rather you volunteer your time towards a good cause, as I did throughout my life.
Right now Im looking down at all of you smiling, playing bluegrass on my banjo. Ive got a large, ice cube-filled cup of pink lemonade, a bowl of cheezies and a plate of crustless egg salad sandwiches.
I am happy and thinking of all of you.
